SLS uses a laser to sinter polymer powder together, moving across the surface of the powder.

Once a layer is completed, the platform moves down and new powder is spread by a blade or roller.

Sintering occurs between layers as well, allowing them to bind together.

The powder acts as a support material, removing the need for support structures. Post processing is therefore limited, only requiring the removal of excess powder.
